Frameworks to consider when practicing each of the 3 senses
Frameworks are a helpful way to structure the thought process of breaking down a problem, identifying & testing solutions. These are not a rule, but rather a guide to structured thinking and problem solving. Think about the context and utilize a structure to frame your objective.
Smart people talk about solutions, successful people immerse themselves in the problem
PURSUIT: More details, and original here.
- Problem
- Map the problem to be solved. Spend the most time on this
- Users
- Who is this a problem for? Be specific about the user
- Rationale
- Does this problem matter? Scope, size the problem (TAM/SAM/SOM etc)
- Solution
- What solutions might exist to solve the problem? Spend some time, but list multiple solutions for the user type
- Uncertainty/Risks
- What are the risks given the solution we pick/prioritize? Think through the various risks and validate the riskiest assumptions early (see Product Strategy)
- Insights
- What insights (personal, market, research, other) can we draw from? Leverage product intuition, research, data, expertise, etc.
- Test metrics
- How will you test your hypothesis? Be specific and start with clear goals.
